Meghan Markle ‘spotted with royal bodyguard’ amid engagement speculations
The Suits actress, 36, is thought to be in the process of moving to Kensington Palace, amid speculation that Prince Harry could already have proposed. She was seen with officers from the Metropolitan Police’s Protection Command on Tuesday, the Express reports, in a strong sign that an engagement announcement could be coming any day now.
The Duchess of Cambridge was only assigned the taxpayer-funded security guards after her engagement to Prince William, a month before they went public with the announcement in 2010 – so Meghan being seen with one now is seen as a sign of things to come. There are also reports indicating that the couple may likely make a formal announcement of their engagement on Tuesday.
The Express claimed a female close protection officer is shadowing Kate’s bodyguard in preparation for working with Meghan. Bookies have suspended bets on the new royal wedding announcement, with Ladbrokes saying they believe it is ‘imminent’.
Palace officials say they will not comment on the rumours. The couple has been dating for more than a year and Harry has asked the press to grant them a certain amount of privacy. Earlier this month, Meghan is reported to have been introduced to the Queen, spending an hour in her private sitting room enjoying sandwiches, scones and cake. She is also thought to be making moves to bring her beloved dogs Bogart and Guy over to the UK.
